Wouldn't it be a good idea to allow a option like ./widelands --languagedir=... or something like this ? I don't know whether this is easy to implement or not, but I think this would solve all translation problems

hello,

I'm using Ubuntu Karmic ( 9.10 ) and the build14 and the Bug as nico_h it discribs is still existing. Changing the Language file extension to *.utf8 fixes the Problem only one time.

My temporary solution is to set the file permissions to the root user.
